Over seventy per cent of permanent residents choose Winnipeg as their community destination every year. Meanwhile, statistics indicate newcomers are choosing the Western, Central and Eastern regions in greater numbers.
Manitoba's Provincial Nominee Program has become the cornerstone of immigration to the province, with over three-quarters of immigrants arriving as provincial nominees.
Countries from Asian and Pacific regions continue to be the areas of the world from which the bulk of Manitoba's immigrants originate. Immigrants from the Philippines, Germany, China and India continue to make up the bulk of Manitoba's yearly immigrants.

Over 80 per cent of total immigrants in 2009 had work experience in hundreds of vocations. Their specialized skill sets enhance the province's economic development.
