Manitoba is proud of our multiculturalism

Multiculturalism means being able to celebrate our own cultural heritage and respect the diversity of each other's communities.

Whether it is through different languages, festivals, cultural practices and beliefs, values or food, cultural communities across Manitoba proudly celebrate their heritage.

Yet we are all united through our shared identity as Manitobans. As Manitobans we work hard to promote racial harmony, mutual respect and the promotion of equality for all citizens.

Diversity contributes to Manitoba’s rich cultural life. Every summer, more than 40 cultural pavilions open their doors during Folklorama, North America’s largest multicultural celebration.

Each winter, Western Canada’s largest francophone community puts on a 10-day winter celebration - Festival du Voyageur.

Diwali, Chinese New Year, ‎عيد الفطر `Īdu l-Fiṭr and other annual holidays are widely celebrated in Manitoba.

The names of Manitoba’s cultural attractions tell the story of our people. Here are some more attractions organized by cultural community organizations:

Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival
Mennonite Heritage Village
Gimli Icelandic Festival.

Cultural community organizations

Each cultural group in Manitoba has community organizations that hold activities and support members, including newcomers.

Find an organization that shares your tradition, language and country of origin on our Contacts Directory.
