Manitoba is the province in the centre of Canada. Population: 1.2 million. Size: 676,000 square kilometres. We are a prosperous, democratic society that was built by the hard work of generations of immigrants.
About half our people live in the capital city, Winnipeg. The rest reside in more than 200 smaller cities, towns, villages and First Nations (land reserved for Canada's aboriginal people).
Our province is in the centre of North America. Canada has 10 provinces, which are like the "states" that make up the United States. Our territory starts at the U.S. border and stretches north to the North American continent's only arctic seaport. Our land has agricultural prairie plus forests, hills and many rivers and lakes.
On this page are links to government websites with a wealth of information about Canada, our people, Manitoba communities, and an interactive map, and sites for children and youth.
