Certified engineering and applied science technicians and technologists are employed in fields such as planning and design, construction and installation, production and operation, research and development, teaching and training, technical marketing, and administration and management.
Engineering and applied science technology is regulated in Manitoba by the Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba (CTTAM).
Membership in CTTAM is not required, but if you wish to use the titles of certified applied science technician, certified engineering technician, certified applied science technologist or certified engineering technologist you must be registered with CTTAM.

Note: CTTAM conducts the licensing process in English only. Thus, all requested documents must be translated into English.
STEP 1: Contact CTTAM and tell them you are an internationally educated technician or technologist and that you would like to register.

STEP 2: Complete the CTTAM application form to have your credentials assessed. This form is available at the CTTAM website.

** If documents are not in English, notarized translations are required.
STEP 3: Write the professional practice examination.
STEP 4: When all requirements have been met and fees paid, you will become a certified member of CTTAM.

Fee for certified members is C$155.
Foreign work experience can provide a maximum one-year credit towards the two-year work experience requirement. At least one year of work experience must be in Canada.
The professional practice examination fee is included in the assessment fee. This examination covers the association's code of ethics, bylaws and legislation related to practice. A study guide is provided by CTTAM to help you prepare. Examinations are held at least once per month and are "open-book." The exam is usually taken after the work experience is nearly finished.
Associate membership is granted if academic requirements are met but work experience requirements are not met OR if the work experience requirements have been met but not the minimum educational requirements.
Associates will be given a letter confirming evaluated academic level at the earliest date to help them acquire work experience.
Associate members are expected to work towards full membership. Membership fee is C$110.
