Work in your profession: Fairness in professional licensing

Law ensures fair treatment of immigrant professionals

Manitoba has a law designed to ensure an informed, fair and systematic approach to improving professional recognition processes for skilled individuals educated outside Canada.

Under the Act there is a fairness commissioner. One of her main responsiblities is to work with regulatory bodies to ensure their registration practices are transparent, objective, impartial and fair.

To ensure compliance with the Act, regulated professions are required to review their registration practices on an ongoing basis and submit regular reports about those practices to the fairness commissioner.
