You will be working in Manitoba on a temporary work permit. Temporary work permits are issued by the Government of Canada's Citizenship and Immigration department.
Citizenship and Immigration Canada
Citizenship and Immigration Canada (
CIC) and its embassies, high commissions and consulates outside of Canada process applications for temporary work permits to determine who may be eligible to work in Canada. In most cases, you will apply for your temporary work permit before you enter Canada through
CIC's embassies, high commissions and consulates, although in certain circumstances you may apply for a temporary work permit upon arrival.
Canada Border Services Agency
If your application for a temporary work permit is approved, you will be issued documentation that you must provide to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) upon arrival in Canada.Your temporary work permit will not be issued until you arrive in Canada. CBSA officers screen foreign workers at Canadian border crossings and airports before issuing temporary work permits and allowing entry into Canada. A border services officer has final say on who may enter Canada. Officers can deny entry to a foreign worker if they believe the foreign worker does not meet the requirements of Canada's
Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
Changing the conditions of your temporary work permit
As a temporary foreign worker, you may apply to extend your stay in Manitoba, change the conditions of your stay, the type of temporary status, or to correct problems with your status. It is important to apply for your renewal before your current permit expires. Applications can be obtained at
Citizenship and Immigration Canada or by phoning 1-888-242-2100.
